Sutha Thanabalasingam (middle) gave a very emotional opening plea for help from  the well wishers. He told the crowd that his whole family being back in the conflict zone of Sri Lanka and he not having spoken to them for over one year. He said he has no idea if they are even alive anymore.

He said he is willing to give up his life if it meant the hundreds and thousands of Tamils in the conflict zone will not die at the hands of the Sri Lankan military.

He thanked his friends Mathivannan and Pratheepan, who also have suffered greatly because of the conflict Sri Lanka, for helping him with his fast and urged every single Tamil in Australia to use the three of them to put pressure on the Australian government to achieve their demands.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all three of you through your fast. I hope that the Australian government responds this time.
