A two day halt in the fighting is not a ceasefire

April 13, 2009

What happens at the end of the two days?

The safety zone has been shelled consistently for the past 24 hours. In this zone are over 50 000 civilians.

A 48 hour cessation of hostilities DOES NOT MEAN A CEASEFIRE. And previous ceasefire calls by the Sri Lankan Government have NOT been respected.

At the end of this period – our people will be massacred by the Sri Lankan Military.

WE MUST NOT LET THIS HAPPEN. TAMILS MUST GIVE THEIR VOICE AS ONE NOW.
