(please listen to this) BBC –Tamil hunger striker “ready to die”

Hundreds of Tamils have been protesting outside the UK parliament over the situation in Sri Lanka.

They have been calling for a ceasefire in the country.

Protester Prarameswaran Subramaniam has been on hunger strike since 7 April and says he is prepared to die for the cause.

Fr. Vasanthaseelan was hit by a shell in the church of Valaignarmadam. His leg has been amputated. Fr. Pathinathan is now at Mulli-vaaykkaal Hospital. The government is appealing to the international community for aid for the refugees. The foreign minister of Colombo: “We are about to confront an emergency humanitarian situation.”

Radio Netherlands – Deep wounds in Sri Lanka

Dutch doctor Rijk Luijendijk worked in a hospital in the northern city of Vavuniya, 60 kilometres from the conflict zone. The hospital has a capacity for 500, but is now struggling to cope with over 1,200 patients.

    Only a few more tamils need to go on hunger strike and the Sri Lankan government won’t have a problem anymore.
